Emilie Talpin is an OM SYSTEM ambassador who grew up in Chalon sur Saône, France, the birthplace of Nicéphore Niépce and the first photograph.  Despite this background, she got into photography late and, in 2018, joined a local camera club where she met a group of talented photographers and was inspired to dive deeper into the art of capturing moments in time.  She attributes part of her success as a photographer to switching from heavy and cumbersome gear to a camera system that is lighter and more versatile.  She bought the OM-D E-M1 Mark II, a wildlife and a macro lens, and has never looked back. She is particularly interested in macro photography, especially in the art of capturing water drop refraction. Now, everywhere she goes, it is with her trusted OM1 by her side.  Accompanied by her camera, she likes to wander the forests of New Hampshire in search of its inhabitants.  Documenting nature and slowing down from the hustle and bustle of life has opened doors to the unseen world and become an addictive passion.  She's in her element when she's exploring and observing the magical world of animal behaviors.

I’m a passionate Dutch photographer with a great love for the tiny subjects in nature; insects, moss, mushrooms, snails, flowers, raindrops. It doesn’t have to be extraordinary to impress or amaze me. The real adventure in macrophotography lies beneath our feet, under the leaves and branches, between the flowers and the moss. It’s in the little details of nature. Being in nature with my camera and macro lens instantly stills my mind and brings me in a state of flow and calmness.

In my network I have many great women who inspire me over and over to question my own limits, to try new things and to break through certain stereotypes. With my work as a photographer in the rather male-dominated outdoor sector and also with my volunteer community @swissmountaingirls, I would like to make my contribution to seeing more women on the mountain in general and also specifically behind the camera in the future.

I love to show some artistic point of view in my photography. One of my own favorites is Red-crowned Crane photographed in Hokkaido before covid. It combines two things which are important for me - artistic view and recognizable nature. Same style but very different photo shows Eagle Owls (double exposure of one Owl) from last winter. Also simple, artistic but recognizable. These are meant to be artistic not accidentally made like we can see too often in nature photography.

As a photographer, I have always had a passion for the art of capturing moments and creating visual stories. It allows me to see the world in a unique way, noticing details and perspectives that others may overlook. Through my camera lens, I am able to express myself creatively and capture memories that will last a lifetime. Photography is not just a hobby or a profession for me, it's a part of who I am and how I see the world.

"It's the fleeting moments of natural beauty and wild conditions that make me excited to travel with my camera. Having the OM SYSTEM gear with me to photograph wildlife, windswept landscapes, coastlines and frozen wonders, always makes the adventure more immersive. Being in the moment, looking through the lens and capturing those moments is so rewarding, both personally and professionally."

Photography allows me to be in contact with nature, to observe animals from a distance without interfering in their behavior, but obtaining incredibly close images thanks to my team, images that I like to share to raise awareness of the wonders that surround us and that we must protect.

Photography is a powerful and versatile art form. It has given me the freedom to express myself and bring joy to others whilst documenting the world as I see and experience it. I love that even though there are accepted 'rules', there is also the scope to break them.

My photography affords me the opportunity to slow adown and see the "everyday miracles" all around us, from the earth spinning creating star trails to the eyes and toepads of a tree frog. I enjoy capturing photons, manipulating pixels, and inspiring others through my images and via my "Creativity is contagious, pass it on" teaching philosophy. I love the role that the OM SYSTEM computational technologies play in achieving my photographic vision and creating storytelling images with my “Don’t shoot what it looks like, shoot what it feels like” approach.

For the past 35 years, I’ve been leading photo tours around the world with my husband, Joe, sharing incredible nature and wildlife experiences with scores of people and using my images to educate children and adults. I consider myself a steward of these wild places and wild animals and am honored to use my images to help with conservation efforts around the world.

Last light | Paulet Island Antarctica -  A beautiful pink glow illuminated hundreds of thousands of chattering penguins raising the next generation. It all felt so surreal. I stopped for a moment and grabbed my OM-1 sneaking in a few precious photographs before boarding the last zodiac of the night back to the ship. I love the effortlessness of the system. It allows me to be fully immersed in my environment all while capturing these special moments.

For me, photography is a way of life. Photography allows me to travel discovering the world with much more attentive eyes, to see the world around us from other perspectives. Stop and observe; Find small details, behaviors, colors or lights, which would otherwise be invisible. One of the things I value most about being a photographer is that - for me - it has been and is constant learning and improvement: learning about nature, conservation, fauna, but also learning to have patience, to observe, and to overcome frustration and some fears. But the greatest gratification comes when my photographs are able to reach people and thanks to them they also manage to see the world with different eyes, making them more aware of the essential need to take care of our planet.

“I am incredibly proud to be working as a female photographer within the nature and outdoor lifestyle scene. I am also so proud for all my female friends and colleagues that pushed hard in this industry, dared to go for their dreams and start their own businesses - on top of that they are doing it with splendour! They are all so inspiring and deserve some extra love today."

Ever since she saw her first bear in the wild at sixteen years old, it has been hard to separate Brooke from bears. Originally from New Jersey, her first bear experience inspired her to endeavor to get closer to the wildest and most inspiring places on the planet. After graduating from college in Colorado, each new step in her life has taken her further and further into the wild: from Colorado to Utah, Wyoming, Montana, Idaho, and then finally to Alaska. For the last six years, Brooke has been working as a full-time wildlife photographer, specializing in all things wild in North America with a particularly strong emphasis on bears. Her hope is that her photos can help people to fall as in love with these animals as she has. Together, we can help protect what we love.
