Get ready for a "Spooktacular" day by your friends at Olympus and Precision Camera & Video! You'll have the opportunity to photograph models styled by the folks at Hawgfly Productions. If you're not familiar with Hawgfly, they are the biggest special FX makeup studio in Texas. The studio has a long list of credits working on productions such as "Machete", "Machete Kills" and HBO's "The Leftovers."

Buckle up for a big day of fun and photography at Precision. Olympus will be in all facets of the store with a sales demo up the center aisle all day, a free Landscape photography workshop in the morning and our first-ever Olympus Experience where we will photograph creations of Hawgfly Productions with instruction from local photographer Tim Babiak in the afternoon.

Landscape and Live Composite Photography - Free Class

Traveling the National Parks isn’t just about an epic landscape shot. Come join Sandra Ramos, also known as the National Park Patch Lady, as she enthusiastically presents a class on unique perspectives of our treasured lands, including tips and tricks for Live Composite mode on Olympus cameras.

Bio: Sandra Ramos is an avid roadtripper and explorer based in Austin, Texas. Known for her accessible photography style and passion for telling the stories of our National Parks, websites like National Park Geek regularly feature her work.

Mason Morris: Mason is a fine art, nature and urban photographer from Lake Michigan's harbor town of Port Washington, Wisconsin. Exclusively shooting Olympus cameras for more than a decade, the OM-D's have won him regional contests & recognition. You'll find him focused on slow shutters & technical shots, capturing severe storms & seasonal stories from the Great Lake's fresh coast.

Morgan Marks: Morgan is a Minneapolis-based food and travel photographer always on the lookout for creative opportunities to shoot her Olympus.

FORMAT: This is a 2 hour slide format lecture with a 15 minute break with room for questions and answers happening in the Precision Lounge.

Olympus Experience

Halloween/Special FX Access Shoot

In this experience workshop, you’ll not only get to photograph the creative inventions of the Hawgfly Crew in creative sets and settings designed by our team, you’ll also learn how to light for maximum drama and impact.

TOPICS COVERED:

  • Using studio lights
  • Understand modifier choice and lighting ratios
  • How to create drama with deliberate shadows
  • How to highlight with kickers
  • How to set up your camera to work with studio lights
  • Lighting and accentuating fog and haze
  • Posing to bring out the character of the models

WHAT TO BRING:

  • SDHC Cards
  • Note taking supplies

Olympus will be providing their latest cameras and lenses to ensure you will get the shot. Only Olympus cameras will be allowed in the VIP shooting areas with access to our creatures.

AUDIENCE: This class is targeted for all levels of photographers who want to explore creative studio photography.

CLASS FORMAT: This four-hour class consists of lecture, demonstration and practice. The session will be broken into two lectures followed by shooting time with the models. A break will occur about halfway through the afternoon.

  • 1 to 2 p.m. - Lecture/Intro and Equipment Rentals
  • 2 to 3 p.m. - Studio Shooting with our Creatures
  • 3 to 4 p.m. - Lecture/Feedback, gear swapping and break
  • 4 to 5 p.m. - Studio Shooting with our Creatures
