Christian Alviar: Final Project

I’m happy overall because I feel I’ve been able to showcase how San Francisco recovered from the wildfires by capturing motion. Photographing the transition from seeing empty streets to the city once again bustling with activity made me realize how fast paced our society is and how we forget the implications of our advancement on nature.

This is the first photo project I’ve done and working on it instilled a personal appreciation for the natural wonders we’ve been blessed with and its been an amazing experience getting to shoot it through the Olympus system.

Covid-19 has been growing at a staggering rate here in San Francisco and the surrounding counties have just gone back into lockdown. It's been challenging to take photos but it also allows me to be creative since I won't always get the images I envisioned. As much as I love photography, I put safety first by both getting to a location early to avoid a crowd or by practicing social distancing. With the holidays around the corner, I'll be visiting some family in Southern California and will be driving through the iconic Highway 1 with the possibility of heading to the Deserts around SoCal. It would be the best time to shoot in normally harsh conditions and it would be the perfect place away from the crowds. Can't wait to add those photos here!
